[music |Big Black - Cables (Live)]

Posed earlier this year (March 6th 2005) was the question:

'Favorite guilty pleasure albums of 2005 so far?' - bloodrace

Well a lot of time has passed and a lot of music has come out... what do you say now?

'80s music [Aug. 18th, 2005|10:24 pm]
genre free

I'm on a mission to gather nice songs and albums that were released in the '80s. I don't really want the songs that would be played on '80s stations--that is, everything that was insanely popular and everyone has heard by now.

I'm not a big-hair-rock or metal sort of person, but if it's reeeeally, reeeeeeeeeeeally good, I'll give it a try, I suppose.

Musique Èlectronique - A study in synthetic and organic sounds and their psychoharmonic effects [Aug. 16th, 2005|02:15 am]
genre free

[mood |restlessrestless]
[music |DJ Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince - Brand New Funk (Live)]

Long title for a mix CD, but it sounds important don't it? I am looking for input on this mix, the design is to be a contrast and compare in 2 halves of electronic sounding electronic music and electronic music that most people would not be aware is for the second half. All the music was chosen for the key and feeling (only 2 don't seem to fit to me, but I'm not telling which) the synthetic/organic switch comes with Femi Kuti's Tension Grip Nigeria.

Sample - HAL - 'I've just picked up a fault'
Meat Beat Manifesto - Caramel Dub
Funkstörung - Grammy Winners
The Sabres of Paradise - Wilmot (Red Snapper remix)
Boards of Canada - Pete standing alone
DabryeHyped - Up Plus Tax (outputmessage rmx)
Funkstörung - Lolita
Tadd Mullinix - Exchanging Moies
Femi Kuti - Tension Grip Nigeria
Ciccone Youth - Macbeth II
Diplo - krunk (variation #2)
The Herbaliser - Battle of Bongo Hill
Four Tet - No More Mosquitoes
Nightmares on Wax - Mission Venice
Bonobo - Flutter
Mr Scruff - Silence Go Boom!
Hardfloor - Ain't Nuttin But A Format Thang
Four Tet - Everything Is Alright
Diplo - Its All Part Of A Bigger Plan

Feed me some feedback.

top ten favourite bands & why: in alphabetical order, because i don't want to randomness to make a band seem better than the other.
1. bright eyes - you've heard it before, conor equals today's bob dylan. the lyrics are so good, even if his situations are made up, it "moves" a lot of folks.
2. death cab for cutie - i want to pinch their cheeks. the music is so young, cute, and mostly sad/nostaglic/hopeful.
3. interpol - i make these crazy connections with their lyrics and my life.
4. the long winters - same reason as interpol.
5. muse - best my signifigant other just broke up with me or i just ditched him/her lyrics.
6. nada surf - honestly, i only like the album "let go", but aaaagh so much <3 goodness.

8. sigur rós - afeter seeing them live, i have to say divine!
